Brian L. Bethel is a professional clinical counselor who also works as an independent trainer and consultant. Brian has worked in the mental health field for twenty years and has a diverse clinical background. In addition to specializing in mental health services for children, Brian has extensive experience in crisis intervention, rehabilitation counseling, substance abuse counseling, grief and trauma counseling, family counseling, and play therapy . Prior to his work in the mental health field, Brian worked in child welfare supervising on-going, foster care and adoption services. 
 
Mr. Bethel earned an Associates of Applied Sciences degree in Human Services Technology and a Bachelors of Arts and Science degree in Psychology from Ohio University. After working in the child welfare system and the mental health field, Brian continued his education and earned a Masters degree in clinical counseling and rehabilitation counseling from Ohio University. Currently, he is pursuing a PhD. in Counselor Education and Supervision. As a licensed professional clinical counselor with supervisory endorsement (PCC/S), a chemical dependency counselor (LCDC), and a registered play therapist supervisor (RPT-S), Mr. Bethel has a varied combination of clinical strengths.
 
As an independent trainer and consultant, Brian has provided training and consultation services on a local, state, and national level. In addition to working for the Ohio Child Welfare Training Program, Brian has served as a clinical trainer for various mental health boards, school systems, and residential centers. In 2007 Mr. Bethel was recognized for his training excellence as he was awarded the “Rising Star” award with the Ohio Child Welfare Training Program. Mr. Bethel is a member of the American Counseling Association, Ohio Counseling Association, and the Association of Play Therapy. Brian is a published author contributing to six publications outlining counseling techniques for children.
