Brian L. Bethel is the Director of Outpatient Services for a community mental health center in south central, Ohio. In addition to coordinating outpatient services Mr. Bethel specializes in providing clinical services to children, adolescents, and families.With over seventeen years of providing mental health services, Brian has a diverse clinical background including extensive experience in crisis intervention, rehabilitation counseling, counseling children and co-facilitation of a men’s domestic violence psycho-educational group. Prior to his current employment in the mental health field Mr. Bethel worked in Child Welfare supervising case work, foster care, and adoption services.
 
Mr. Bethel earned a Masters degree in clinical counseling and rehabilitation counseling from Ohio University. Currently, Mr. Bethel is pursuing his PhD. in Counselor Education and Supervision. As a licensed professional clinical counselor with supervisory endorsement (PCC/S), a chemical dependency counselor (LCDC) and a registered play therapist supervisor (RPT-S), Mr. Bethel has a varied combination of clinical strengths.
 
As an independent trainer and consultant Mr. Bethel has provided trainings and workshops in a variety of venues. In addition to serving as a trainer for the Ohio Child Welfare Training Program, Mr. Bethel has been an invited presenter to the annual Convening of Crisis Intervention Personnel conference in Chicago, Illinois for thirteen years. Mr. Bethel has also served as a clinical trainer for The Rosemont Center, Private Foster Care Agencies, Mental Health Boards, and numerous schools. Most recently, Mr. Bethel was selected to facilitate trainings for mental health professionals who are working with children impacted by Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans, Louisiana. Mr. Bethel was the 2007 recipient of the “Rising Star” trainer award through the Ohio Child Welfare Training Program. He has been a contributing author for four publications involving the use of play therapy in mental health counseling.
 
Mr. Bethel is a member of the American Counseling Association (ACA) and the Association for Play Therapy (APT) and serves on numerous professional boards in the community.
